Any development that does not conform to the approved planning permit, is null and void, as all amendments must be submitted to the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority for approval.
The Acting General Manager of the Authority, TPl. Itunu Jolaoluwa stated this during a sensitisation visit to Glory Estate Community Development Authority (CDA), Itanrin-Ijebu in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the State.
Representing the Acting General Manager, Head of Department, Planning Permit Department, TPl. Hakeem Dandy emphasised the importance of keeping to specifications on the approved planning permits, such as airspaces and setbacks, to avoid haphazard development of structures.
TPl. Jolaoluwa further stated that anyone who built without obtaining a planning permit was an illegal occupant, and such structures were not recognised by government.
"If any overriding public concern necessitates demolition, those without a permit are not qualified for compensation," she said.
Also speaking, Head of Development, Research and Records Department, TPl. Waheed Olayinka charged members of the CDA to take their survey plans, architectural drawings, and receipts of purchase or deeds of agreement, to their zonal town planning office to commence the process of obtaining planning permit, saying they would be advised on way forward if their property fall within acquisition.
Responding, Chairman of the CDA, Alhaji Debo Moshood, appreciated the Authority for heeding their call for an interactive sensitisation session, saying members of the community were better informed on necessary steps to regularise their properties and encourage planned development in the immediate future.
