The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the transfer of two Pro-Chancellors in what it described as a bid to enhance university governance and promote fairness, transparency, and good governance in the country’s universities, PUNCH ONLINE reports.
According to the ministry’s spokesperson, Folasade Boriowo, on Monday, the transfers are part of ongoing reforms aimed at creating a more conducive educational environment for Nigerian students while maintaining high standards in the nation’s universities.
“The ongoing reforms in the education system are focused on ensuring fairness, transparency, and high-level governance across all our universities, ensuring that our children receive the right education in the most conducive environment,” Boriowo quoted the the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa as saying.
According to the statement, Retired Colonel Abdulmuminu Aminu from Federal University Dutsin-Ma was transferred to the Federal University Kebbi while Ali Abubakar Jatau from Federal University Birnin Kebbi was moved to Federal University Dutsin-Ma.
The Federal Ministry of Education said it remains committed to promoting transparency and good governance in the education sector.
Alausa emphasised that the ministry stands at the forefront of promoting transparency by ensuring that principal officers in universities are appointed strictly based on merit.
The transfers according to the statement take immediate effect with the inistry expressing gratitude to both Pro-Chancellors for their dedication and service to the nation’s educational development.
"The ministry’s efforts aim to build a stronger, more transparent, and merit-driven university system for the benefit of all Nigerians,” the statement added
